Charging stations have popped up in airports, malls and convention centers in recent years. And because phones will be losing their charges for the foreseeable future, the companies that make these stations have been broadening their sights. One area with enormous growth potential? Bars.
In the past year, goCharge, a company that does most of its business leasing phone charging stations for use at conventions, has installed about 50 of its machines in bars in Manhattan. It has even crossed the East River once, to install a machine at On the Rocks, a dive bar in Williamsburg.
